Annapurna Base Camp Trek itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon arriving in Kathmandu, immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of Thamel. Check into a cozy hotel and get ready for the adventure that awaits.
Day 2: Kathmandu Valley Exploration
Embark on a cultural journey, exploring historical and religious sites such as Pashupatinath, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath, and Patan Durbar Square. Absorb the rich heritage of the Kathmandu Valley.
Day 3: Drive to Pokhara (850 meters)
Catch an early morning bus to Pokhara, a lakeside town offering splendid views of the Annapurna Himalayas. Relax and prepare for the trek ahead.
Day 4: Trek to Tikhedhunga (1540m/4 hours)
A scenic drive to Nayapul kicks off the trek. Follow the Bhurungdi Khola River through lowland rice fields and orange groves, reaching the first teahouse in Tikhedhunga. Marvel at your surroundings and prepare for the journey ahead.
Day 5: Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2810m/6.5 hours)
Challenge yourself with a steep climb of 3300 stone steps to Ulleri, rewarded by stunning views of Machhapuchhre, Gandharba Chuli, and Annapurna II and III. Traverse a dense rhododendron and oak forest to reach Ghorepani, where Langur monkeys and musk deer may greet you.
Day 6: Poon Hill Sunrise and Trek to Tadhapani (2700m/6 hours)
Ascend Poon Hill before breakfast for a spectacular sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Trek through the jungle to Durali and descend to Tadhapani, accompanied by playful monkeys.
Day 7: Tadhapani to Chomrong (2170m/5 hours)
Descend through a dark forest to the picturesque village of Chomrong, passing farmland and traditional Gurung villages with views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre.
Day 8: Chomrong to Dovan (2580m/5 hours)
Navigate through ups and downs, crossing the Chomrong Khola River on a suspension bridge and ascending to Sinuwa. Pass through bamboo-filled areas before reaching Dovan, surrounded by rhododendrons and walnut trees.
Day 9: Dovan to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3700m/6 hours)
Gradually ascend along the Modi Khola River, passing through a sacred valley with restrictions on meat and fish. Spot Lophorous Birds as you ascend to Machhapuchhre Base Camp.
Day 10: Annapurna Base Camp (4110 meters/4 hours)
Leave vegetation behind and enter the Annapurna Sanctuary, a pristine wilderness surrounded by the Annapurna Himalayas and the glistening Annapurna glacier. Marvel at the breathtaking landscape.
Day 11: Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo (2340m/6 hours)
Wake up to a wondrous sunrise at the base camp and begin the descent along the Modi Khola River to Bamboo, surrounded by nature’s beauty.
Day 12: Bamboo to Jhinu (1780m/5.5 hours)
Trek uphill to Sinewa, descend to the Chomrong Khola River and ascend to Chomrong. Conclude the day with a descent to Jhinu, where you can soak in the natural hot springs.
Day 13: Trek to Nayapul (1070m/6 hours) and Drive to Pokhara
Embark on the final trekking day, ascending to the banks of the Modi Khola River, then drive to Pokhara. Enjoy a comfortable night in a hotel.
Day 14: Flight back to Kathmandu
Take a late morning flight back to Kathmandu, reflecting on the awe-inspiring journey through the Annapurna Himalayas. Use the remaining time to relax in the capital.
